The Professional Development Committee’s core responsibility is planning and executing all events that give our members insight into the life of a practicing attorney and the process of applying to law school, excelling in law school, and then passing the bar. Events such as speaking engagements given by visiting attorneys, LSAT preparation workshops and practice tests, and resume workshops comprise 75% of the events our Chapter holds. The Professional Development Committee is charged with creating a dynamic calendar to provide access to a wide variation of advice, insight, and skills. Past events have included speakers practicing in insurance coverage, criminal defense, tax and estate planning, family law, and death penalty defense, and panels with law students at both the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law.
Most of our members join Phi Alpha Delta for the opportunity to learn more about law as a profession, thus the Professional Development Committee is integral to the continued success of the Fraternity. Successful events bring Fraternity members together and promote general morale in the midst of the stresses of school. Additionally, the Professional Development Committee connects members to legal professionals all around the Greater Seattle Area, in hopes a lasting bond will be formed. In short, the Professional Development Committee provides the purpose of the Fraternity to its members.
